On August 1, 2022 the Fire District's ISO-PPC Rating changed from a 4/4x to a 3/3x rating. Can the Fire District notify my insurance to change my fire insurance premium rate?
The Fire District does not interact with insurers regarding Insurance Services Office Public Protection Classification (ISO-PPC) ratings. ISO-PPC is a commercial insurance risk product that some insurers subscribe to that assists in underwriting individual policies. After August 1, 2022 policy holders can contact their insurance agent to request that they review the property's fire insurance policy. It is up to each insurance company and their underwriters to determine if a premium can be reduced. The ISO-PPC rating is not used by all insurance companies when underwriting policies. Even though the Fire District has achieved a lower ISO-PPC rating the results may not apply to certain insurance companies and their internal underwriting processes.
