Firefighters Extinguish Vehicle Fire on Placerville Drive

April 19, 2022 — Division 7705, Engine 26, Medic 25 and Diamond Springs El Dorado Fire Protection District Engine 349 responded with California Highway Patrol to Placerville Drive near Forni Rd for a vehicle fire. Units arrived to find a small fire contained to the engine compartment of a small sedan. Firefighters forced open the hood and extinguished the small fire with a water extinguisher. No injuries were reported.

Debris left by rodents were found throughout the engine compartment. These debris contributed to the fire. If you park a vehicle outside, it is good practice to routinely check under the hood for signs of rodent damage. Clean out debris or repair damage as soon as it is found to reduce risk of fire.
