May 22, 2022 — Strawberry Fire Safe Council held a community fire safety meeting on Saturday with guest speakers from the Pollock Pines Fire Safe Council, El Dorado County Resource Conservation District and El Dorado County Fire Protection District. Fire Prevention Specialist Captain Shepard and Fire Chief Tim Cordero shared fire safety tips and information related to local fire services with the 50 attendees. In the Strawberry community, no homes lost during the Caldor Fire.

When individual property owners and entire communities provide the defense, as in defensible space, we can provide the offense. Living in communities that are vulnerable to wildfire requires you to be READY. In addition to creating defensible space and hardening your home, we encourage residents to have an emergency kit, have an evacuation plan and to sign up for emergency notifications on CodeRED.
