10,000th Make-A-Wish Granted: Magnum Will Be Firefighter for a Day!

Sacramento, Calif. ( Sept 9, 2023) — Last Saturday, 5-year-old Magnum was granted a wish: to become a firefighter for a day. Magnum suffers a bone marrow disorder and was granted this special wish during a special ceremony. This wish marks the 10,000th wish granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation's Northeastern & Central California and Northern Nevada region. Magnum will ride with El Dorado County Fire Protection District's Engine 28 and Captain Jamie Preston in Shingle Springs on October 3.

Sacramento Fire Fighters Pipes & Drums were on hand to kick off the wish granting. Fire Chief Tim Cordero asked Magnum to join the agency and presented him a fire helmet with a custom leather shield. Director Lloyd Ogan read a board proclamation declaring Magnum a firefighter for the day.

Magnum will experience the life of a firefighter during his day and will even get a firehouse meal provided by El Dorado County Professional Firefighters Association.
