Magnum's Make-A-Wish Comes True

Shingle Springs, Calif. (October 4, 2023) - Yesterday Magnum's dream to become a firefighter came true. Magnum was sworn in as an honorary firefighter for the El Dorado County Fire Protection District by Fire Chief Tim Cordero; receiving his badge, turnout gear and more during a ceremony at the Matt Keck Memorial Fire Station 28 in Shingle Springs. Magnum was greeted by many supporters and even gave interviews to the press. Make-A-Wish Northeastern & Central California and Northern Nevada was at hand to kick-off the day and to also recognize Magnum's wish as the 10,000th wish granted by the chapter. Magnum also received a custom ride-on fire engine vehicle to enjoy at home.

Engine 28 from Shingle Springs welcomed Magnum for a day in the fire station. Together they traveled to Historic Downtown Placerville where Magnum met City of Placerville Mayor Saragosa and Vice Mayor Neau and received a proclamation recognizing him as firefighter for a day and honorary mayor. Magnum was able to ring the bell in the historic bell tower - a bell rung to call volunteer firefighters to fires in the city beginning in 1878. Magnum and crew then responded to a "fire" at El Dorado County Fire's Fire Training Center in Oak Hill. Under the direction of Captain Preston, they operated a hose line, extinguished the fire and searched for victims. After working up an appetite, Magnum and crew returned to the fire station for lunch.

We would like to thank Ghost House Leather for providing Magnum a custom helmet shield. We would also like to thank All Star - Detail, Tint & Wraps of El Dorado Hills for providing custom decals for Magnum's fire engine. El Dorado Transit provided transportation between all of our locations for friends and family to come along. Thank you to Placerville Police, Placerville Public Works, CAL FIRE Amador - El Dorado Unit, CAL FIRE / Cameron Park Fire Department, Diamond Springs - El Dorado Fire Protection District, El Dorado Hills Fire Department, and Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians - Tribal Fire for helping to make Magnum's wish a reality.
